’Hope Springs’ is a 12”/30.5cm intermediate level granny square when made with #4 (Aran) weight 100% cotton yarn and a 5mm/H hook.

You could also use #3/DK weight with a 4mm hook to make a slightly smaller square, or experiment with blends or premium acrylics.
