Jenny Ryder

Hello! Thank you for coming to check out my page. You will find that I hold none of my works for ransom, so you are really only limited by your own laws and consciensce as to how you use them.

The designs you see here are only a handful of some of the things I’ve designed. More can be found in my notebook under the Made It Up Myself tab. For the most part, I’ve stopped using Ravelry’s Notebook feature, so there’s even more in progress offline. I’m a one-woman show: design, write, chart, test, photos, modelling, edit, proof, publish…that’s all me, so it can take awhile for me to publish. Many of my designs are in various stages of production for years before anyone else gets to see them. This way, I get to have all the fun! The projects (in the “made it up myself” tab) have varying degrees of method/pattern notes, feel free to peruse those too and use them to your liking.

My boyfriend (since 2006) Speaks with Thunder made the chart-making software that I use in my patterns. What a nice gift, eh?! I love to use it (though I have never tried anything else (besides uploading photos of my pencil-drawn charts)) because it is more of an art program that leaves me with a clear chart which retains a hand-drawn feel. It’s called Chet, and the link will take you to the homepage for the application and you can read up on it and download it (free) if you like. You can create your own custom symbols and freely switch between crochet (US and UK) and knit symbols. I then use a program called GIMP to add row numbers and highlighting to specific stitches if needed.

Enjoy!

P.S. “…it seems the paranoid are sometimes actually being followed.” --Terry Stricter (Bowfinger)

P.P.S. “Get busy livin’ or get busy dyin’.” --Andy Dufresne (The Shawshank Redemption)

P.P.P.S. It has just come to my attention, when doing conversions for an upcoming pattern, that my imperial-to-metric conversions have been a little off. All patterns published before 2023 use the rate of .95 meters per yard, when it is actually .9144 meters per yard. So if you follow my suggestions for metric measurements, your meterage measurements will be a bit long. It will take me some time to go through and fix these. I’ll delete this note if I ever make the corrections. All measures in inches/cm should be correct as they are already. Yet another thing we can all thank El Thunderino for shedding light on when he used his conversion app on my behalf!
