These mittens are worked in a modified half fisherman’s rib, which resembles brioche but is easier to work. In the centre of the front and back of each mitten is a chevron ‘fern’ motif worked with cable.

The mittens provide a matching set with our Tent in the Woods hat.

The pattern is written for size S and M female hand sizes. Approximate hand length (measured from tip of middle finger to wrist crease):

• Size S: 17cm (6 1/2 inches)
• Size M: 18.5cm (7 inches).

Choose a DK (8 ply) yarn with a gauge of about 22 sts and 30 rows to 10 cm in stockinette. The mittens require about one and a half 50g skeins.
