Acorn Wee Folk
I LOVE Waldorf peg dolls, but HATE how fiddly they are to knit clothes for, so I spent years coming up with a more knitter-friendly peg doll, even getting rid of the peg altogether. Now I have dolls that can easily be done in an evening, and they’re fun to make!
Construction:
• a body, knit in the round from bottom to top.
• arms, (one I-cord) knit in one piece and slid into
position through arm holes.
• wooden bead head that stays in place with a pipe cleaner.
• yarn hair added with a tapestry needle.
• Acorn cap, made by either gluing a real acorn to the top of your doll, or knitting an acorn cap.
Supplies:
12 mm wooden beads (I use both light and dark colored beads for a diversity of dolls), pipe cleaners, medium acorn caps (the deeper the better), school/craft glue, tapestry needle.
- Here’s how I make my dandelions.

Sweet pattern, fun to knit. (Wedina)
Cute little Acorn boy. So small! (Adente)
I needed about 1 hour for each. And the most time I spent on their hair. It’s always fun thinking about color. (Saphiera)
Such a fun and quick knit. Smooth Knit thanks to the Well Written Instructions and Helpful Photographs. (RandyRatCrafts)
