Jess & Cris joined forces in early 2022 with the intention of creative beautiful knitting patterns together. We choose our yarns, designs and swatch in tandem. While Jess focuses on creating yarn and mulls over design ideas with Cris over coffee, Cris sketches ideas and swatches them.

Here is what Cris has to say about Afterain:

“After rain” is my first sweater design. It’s genderless by design, and is inspired by the idea of shelter from the cold and rain in Ireland. As a queer knitter, it’s important for me to create garments that contemplate clothing as something far from binarism, in order to accommodate
the majority of bodies and give clothing a contingent perspective“.

We will start by knitting the neck collar and then short rows, and thus continue with the in-creases through the yoke. When we finish the yoke, we leave the stitches for the arms on hold.

We will continue knitting the body. When we finish the body, we will return to the stitches that we left on hold to knit the arms.
Being a very simple design, my recommendation is to customise it as much as you can! For example, you could use the leftovers from other projects and marling the colours while you’re
knitting.
