Alex Selbu Mittens
These mittens are designed according to the Norwegian Selbu tradition, with a gusseted thumb, decreased to form a flat and pointed tip, and with a post (three stitches) running up the sides of the hand and thumb. They are women’s size with a floral theme.
The bottom edge of the cuff is worked back and forth, before sewn together in the side later. The pattern has two versions; one with a solid line in the sides, and one with dotted line. Note that if you choose the dotted line version, there will be long gaps in one colour where you have to carry the idle thread in the back.
In the pattern there’s a section with lots of tips and explanations of stitches and techniques used in the pattern, to help you achieve a good result. There are also links to videos on my YouTube channel where stitches are shown.
