Alexei Socks
This pattern has not been test knit. Any feedback is welcome!
The Alexei Socks are knitted with fingering weight sock yarn on 2.5mm needles (US1.5). This pattern is written as either a toe up or cuff down construction, with a classic 3x1 rib, a braided cable accent, and a short row heel.
SIZES (APPROX), MEASURED AROUND MID-FOOT
• Small 6.5”/16.5cm unstretched, 8”/20.25cm stretched
• Medium 8”/20.25cm unstretched, 10”/25.5cm stretched
• Large 9”/22.75cm unstretched, 11”/28cm stretched
MATERIALS
100g 2-ply sock yarn. Any yarn that yields the correct gauge should be suitable.
My sample uses Farmer’s Daughter Fibers Rocky Mountain Purls in the shade Rooted Earth.
GAUGE
32 sts x 48 rows per 4” (10 cm) square, measured over stockinette stitch in the round.
A note on the gauge: If you are a tight knitter, or you have a tighter gauge, size up. This pattern is designed to adapt to your preferred sock gauge.
NEEDLES AND NOTIONS
• 2.5mm/US 1.5 circular needle (or whatever size is necessary to achieve gauge), 32”/80cm
• Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
