This beanie is inspired by Western Norway, where hikers need to set aside time to pick wild blueberries on their fjordside adventures. While blueberries there come into season in the mid-summer, this cozy hat can keep you toasty through the chilly Nordic fall and winter! Its design plays with texture and pattern by including cabled lattices and traditional fair isle colorwork.

I knitted the above hat using two colors of Vidde, Norwegian lambswool processed and dyed by Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk. Hillesvåg is a historic family mill located north of Bergen. I would recommend using local wool to imbue your piece with some place-based flair!

Size & fit: Loosely fits a medium to large adult head. You can easily adjust your hat’s size by adding or subtracting pattern repeats.

Gauge: 10 x 10 cm = 22 sts across x 25 sts down

Materials:
DK / light worsted weight yarn. I recommend using a light base color with good stitch definition so the delicate cablework stands out more.
Base color: 70g / 140 meters
Accent color: 30g / 60 meters
Size US 5 / 3.75 mm needles, or any size that works well for you
