Amonaria is a crescent-shaped shawl, worked from the top down with glam leaf lace motifs. The increases are made on both sides along the upper edges of the shawl to make the crescent shape.

The pattern was tested. Many thanks to perfect test knitters: svetula27, susannesims, Ayala120, terevalencia and Agaknits11.
According to one of my great testers, this shawl is a relaxing knit and easy-to-remember repeats and it still ends up looking sophisticated. You can make as many or as few repeats as you want. This pattern also will be very suited to gradients.

Please note: the stitch pattern in this shawl is charted only. Wrong side rows are not shown. Any chart has written line-by-line description of each chart in a convenient format even for beginners.

To help you plan your shawl this pattern contains several helpful sections. On one own page, there is a diagram for each half of the shawl showing how the pattern sections will be used. The individual charted sections are shown on one page. Finally, line-by-line, written instructions are given on two pages beside each chart.

This pattern could easily be made with lace to fingering weight yarn.

The sample knitted in lace weight yarn. Shown in Scrumptious Lace by Fyberspates (1094 yds (1000 m) / (3.53 Oz (100g), 55% Wool – Merino, 45% Silk).

Finished Measurements: after blocking – 82.7” (210 cm) wingspan along top edge, 20.5” (52 cm) deep.
Gauge: after blocking - 10 x 10 cm (4” x 4”) = 22 stitches and 34 rows in stockinette pattern. Gauge is not critical here.
To work a shawl, you should know the following intermediate techniques: reading charts, basic decreases (ssk; k2tog; cdd), increase (yo).

Tools: 32’’ (80 cm) or longer circular needle for knitting flat size US size 4-6 (3.5mm-4.0mm), depending if you are tight or loose knitter.
In order to facilitate the loose ending, you can use a needle of a much larger size, e.g. 6.00 mm or crochet hook size e.g. 5.00 in place of the right needle. If you use crochet hook, I recommend the method Double crochet bind off.
2 stitch markers are optional but if you want to separate each chart and repeat of chart you need a total 30 markers.

Materials: 875 – 985 yards (800- 900 meters) of lace or fingering weight yarn.
