US 6 (4.00 mm) double-pointed needles or size needed to obtain gauge.

Other options: Longer circulars for Magic Loop or circulars would also work if you’re comfortable translating pattern written for DPNs to those methods.

The Apothecary Bag is cast on using Judy’s Magic Cast-on, then worked in the round on DPNs from the bottom up. Pattern features a gusseted edge on the sides of the bag, worked via purls and alternating knit and slipped stitches, a front fern leaf lacework panel, and a plain stockinette back panel (that can be easily modified to mirror the front, if desired, to have the same lacework panel on both sides of the bag), a ribbon band for closure, and a folded picot edge top to give the appearance of lace trim. Pattern features knits and purls, slipped stitches, yarn overs, increases, decreases, and whip-stitch sewing to fold the edge over at the top to give extra sturdiness to the bag closure.
