The Argiope aurantia spider makes a stabilimentum, or distinctive X-shape in its web. There is debate over whether this X helps camouflage the spider, attract prey, or warn birds that a web is present. This spider’s interesting web was the inspiration for these mitts.

The mitts are about 7” in circumference for size M and 8” in circumference for size L. The main body of the mitt with the design is 4” high. The cables can easily be worked without a cable needle.

The designer knit these with 40g Cascade 220 sport in 9568 twilight blue and 14g HiKoo by Skacel Simplicity in 030 fijian waters for size L.
