If you are looking for an easy-to-follow crochet pattern that produces beautiful texture and looks amazing in whatever combination of colours you can think of, then you just found it!

Each round of this concentric circular rug uses a different basic stitch pattern than the one before, which means it is both interesting and satisfying to make.

With plenty of tips, photo guidance and links to four video stitch tutorials to help you, this pattern is accessible to crocheters of all skill levels. It is written in English, using US crochet terms.

The pattern has been technically edited and tested by a global team of nine left and right-handed crocheters with a range of abilities and experience. Here is some of their feedback:

“Your pattern was incredibly precise. The amount of tips and explanation made me feel confident in the pattern before I began.” @abbottcrochet

“I think this is the most detailed pattern I’ve ever used or tested. All the pictures were really helpful … and for you to have included left and right handed instructions too, amazing!” @amiemakescrochet

The inspiration for this design came from the desire to create a cosy and inviting space for a ‘book snuggle’ with young children; a place that they would want to return to regularly, to build happy memories and share their favourite stories.

However, the versatility of this pattern means that it can be used for many different purposes, from brightening up a living space, helping to define zones in a playroom or classroom to creating a calm zone for meditation and reflection. One of my pattern testers has already used the pattern to create one floor rug, one lap blanket and one wall hanging!

While the pattern includes instructions to make two different rug sizes (using a 10mm crochet hook and super chunky yarn), both of which are suited to small spaces, there is also guidance for customising the pattern to fit a specific floor space if needed. Therefore, it is possible to follow this pattern using any yarn weight and appropriate hook size.

There are endless opportunities for colour combinations to suit any décor and plenty of examples are included in the pattern for inspiration.
