Autumn Leaves
Autumn is the best time of year. Spiced lattes, cozy sweaters, pumpkins, and the greatest fashion of the year. But the best part is the beautiful fall leaves in reds, oranges, and yellows. The Autumn Leaves gloves will keep your hands warm during walks through the park, to the coffee shop, or home from work, so you can admire the beauty around you in comfort and coziness.
Sizes
There are four sizes available in pattern: 1 (18cm / 7” hand circumference), 2 (20cm / 8” hand circumference), 3 (22.5cm / 9” hand circumference), and 4 (25cm / 10” hand circumference). You can find your size by measuring around your hand just below your fingers (not including your thumb), and choosing the size closest to your measurements.
Make sure to double check your gauge with the colourwork chart, as some knitters have a tighter gauge when knitting stranded colourwork. You can size up one needle size for the colourwork sections if needed to maintain gauge.
Yarn and Yardage
Three different colours are needed for this pattern. Colour 1 is for the ribbed cuff and edges, Colour 2 for the background, and Colour 3 for the colourwork motifs. Make sure that Colour 2 and Colour 3 contrast strongly enough for the design to be seen.
The total yardage is 190 - 270 yard, with C1 needing 50 - 90 yards, C2 needing 60 - 100 yards, and C3 needing 40 - 80 yards.
Notions
Knitting needles (DPN’s or circulars), darning needle, stitch markers.
Techniques
The fingerless gloves are knit in the round from the cuff up. The leaves and repeated motifs are knit using stranded colourwork. The colourwork instructions are charted.
This pattern is recommended for knitters who are familiar with fingerless glove construction, and are comfortable with stranded knitting colourwork techniques.
