Welcome to my Net Ornament Cover Series! This second pattern gives direction for three different ways to crochet a beaded cover which give different looks to the beads, and also different orders to string the beads to make patterns with the bead colors.

This cover takes about 20 yds of size 10 crochet thread, and 85 beads (or more if you want to add extra hanging below the ornament). I have used a smaller hook than normal for size 10 thread because I want the chain stitches to stay tight. However, if you prefer to use a slightly larger hook it won’t make much difference. The pattern is designed for standard size ball ornaments in the USA which are slightly larger than 2.5” in diameter, or about 8.5” around the widest part. I strongly recommend using plastic ornaments, since blown glass balls can break under the crochet.

This cover takes about 30 minutes to make, so you can whip them up for gifts or add them to your own tree!
