It’s the Hat for Anyone and Everyone!

When 12 of my friends asked me to teach them how to knit, I drafted my own pattern to make sure that the gauge worked perfectly, the techniques were as simple as can be, it knit up quickly, and the finished object had a very clean, smart, upscale finish.

The result was THE BEGINNERS WELCOME HAT--a bottom up, all over 1x1 ribbed hat, with star-like decreases at the top. It works up so quickly and the end product is so refined, that it gives impressive results for an easy and fast gift knit, as well as for a first project, or to express the qualities of an extra special yarn!

MATERIALS:
Yarn: 100-200 yards Worsted or Aran weight yarn, samples knit in Ritual Dyes Elder, held together with Ritual Dyes Fae
Needles: US 7, 4.5mm 12ʺ or 16” circular needle and US 7 4.5mm double pointed needles (dpns) or whatever size you need to achieve gauge
Notions: One unique beginning of round stitch marker, 5 additional stitch markers, and a tapestry needle

Baby/Toddler: Fits head circumference of approximately 16-19” circumference / Finished measurements approximately 14” circumference measured relaxed/un-stretched after blocking
Child: Fits head circumference of approximately 19” circumference / Finished measurements approximately 15” circumference measured relaxed/un-stretched after blocking
Adult 1: (Light blue sample) Fits head circumference of approximately 21” circumference / Finished measurements approximately 16” circumference measured relaxed/un-stretched after blocking
Adult 2: (Pink sample) Fits head circumference of approximately 22” circumference / Finished measurements approximately 18” circumference measured relaxed/un-stretched after blocking
