Benita is a triangular shawl, worked from the top down with simple but brilliant lace motifs. The increases are made on both sides of the center stitch and along the edges of the shawl to make the triangle shape.
This pattern could easily be made with lace to fingering weight yarn. By simply adding more repeats of the sections, you can make a shawl as large as you wish.
Please note: the stitch pattern in this shawl is charted only. Any chart has written description in a convenient format even for beginners.
To help you plan your shawl this pattern contains several helpful sections. On one own page, there is a diagram for each half of the shawl showing how the pattern sections will be used. The individual charted sections are shown on four pages. Finally, line-by-line, written instructions are given on five pages beside each chart.
Yarn
The sample is worked in Whirl (768 Sherbet Rainbow) of Scheepjes (1094 yds (1000 m)/ 7.94 Oz (225g)). The pattern calls for 875 – 985 yards (800- 900 meters) fingering weight yarn.
Finished Measurements
After blocking – 83.48” (212 cm) wingspan along top edge, 41.74” (106 cm) deep. Gauge is not critical here so size may vary a little.

The pattern was tested. Many thanks to perfect test knitters from FTP: Iunfold, somagrrrl, Ayala120, and AgnieszkaSz123.
