Bjarne Sweater
Bjarne Sweater — Form & Fit©
At first glance, Bjarne is a simple everyday sweater — designed to be worn again and again.
A classic men’s sweater: balanced, comfortable, and quietly shaped.
Part of the knitting for the men in our lives design line.
Behind that simplicity is a construction that allows the sweater to sit naturally on the body — without unnecessary bulk or tension.
The result is a sweater that feels right from the first try.
The design builds on the clean lines of the Form & Fit© construction.
An asymmetrical architecture reflects how bodies vary across sizes and proportions, allowing the sweater to follow the body’s natural contours.
One sweater — three ways to knit it
Bjarne is designed to be used at different levels, depending on how much shaping you would like to apply:
Standard Knit
Follow the pattern as written — no calculations needed.
Structured Fit (Pick & Match©)
Select modules for back width, upper body (yoke), and body shaping to balance proportions.
Full Tailoring
Refine posture and body shape using structured guidance and simple calculations.
All three approaches are supported within the pattern.
Pick & Match© — structured flexibility
Instead of choosing one fixed size, the sweater is built from separate elements:
• back & shoulders
• upper body (yoke)
• body shaping
This allows different proportions to be combined while maintaining clean lines and balance.
The pattern guides you step by step, with clear checkpoints along the way.
Tailoring Fit — Quick Guide (included)
The pattern includes a short, focused guide for adjusting fit where it matters most:
• posture
• upper body balance
• torso shaping
Designed for use while knitting, it provides:
• clear rules of thumb
• simple decision steps
• practical shaping options
Use it as needed — or follow the standard version for a straightforward knit.
Included adjustments:
• Posture adjustments for rounded or forward upper backs
• V-line shaping for inverted triangle and trapezoid body types
• O-line shaping for fuller belly (oval body types)
• A-line shaping for wider hips (triangle body types)
