Bjørgvin beret

I visited Bergen a few years ago and found myself surrounded by Norwegian knitwear. I was intrigued by the differences in style between Norwegian knitting and my own heritage of Shetland knitting. Apart from the design differences, colour is also used in a different way. Norwegian star motifs are often knitted using two contrasting colours. I noticed red and white being used effectively against black. This beret has a Shetland appearance but with a Norwegian influence.

I would recommend using 100% Shetland wool for best results, the ultimate in keeping you warm.

The pattern is one size adult but the actual size can be changed quite dramatically using larger or smaller needle sizes.
Please pay particular attention to the required tension as my knitting tends to be close.

This design uses 6 shades.
