Black Forest Cardigan is designed to have an oversized fit and features a mix of cables, broken rib, and garter stitch.

First the back is worked back and forth with increases either side. Stitches are then picked up along the back yoke to form each front whilst shaping the neck and subsequently the underarms. The fronts are then joined with the back to work back and forth for the remainder of the body. Stitches are picked up around the armhole for the sleeves, which are worked in the same cable and textured pattern as the body, with decreases on the underside for gentle tapering to the wrist. Charts are used to work the cable and texture panels on the fronts, back, and sleeves. All edges are worked in rib and bound off using the Italian Bind-off technique. Finally, stitches are picked up for the button band and neck edge and worked in rib.
