Blackberry Beanie
by Janet Velvin
I have knitted both the fruit and flowers of the blackberry into this snug-fitting beanie. Purl stitches form the raised purple bumps of the berries. Incorporating purl stitches into colourwork is a technique often used by the Bohus knitters who worked in Sweden in the 1940s and 50s. … These designs, often inspired by the natural world, feature complex and sophisticated visual effects that are difficult to reproduce. This small beanie however, is not so complex and, as with all the patterns in this book, there are never more than two colours per row.
40-50gm of 4 ply yarn.
