The Blackrocks Wrap was inspired by the pattern made by rivulets of water receding from the ancient rock formations found along the shores of Lake Superior. It features dense cables and is knit flat from one end to of the rectangle to the other. While the sample used a light fingering weight yarn, the pattern would adapt well to a sport, DK, or worsted weight.

Pattern includes fully written instructions, charted instructions, and two low vision versions (see file information below for details).

While instructions are included for three different widths (the smallest being more of a scarf, the two larger being big enough for a wrap) and two different lengths, the size is easily customizable. Instructions and tips for modifying the size are included.

Sizes
Length: A) 75”/190cm; or B) 95”/241cm
Width: 1) 10”/25.5cm; 2) 15”/38cm; or 3) 20”/50cm

Yarn
Width 1, Length A: 975 yards (890 meters)
Width 1, Length B: 1225 yards (1120 meters)
Width 2, Length A: 1560 yards (1425 meters)
Width 2, Length B: 1960 yards (1792 meters)
Width 3, Length A: 2145 yards (1960 meters)
Width 3, Length B: 2700 yards (2468 meters)

Note: The yarn totals above include a 10% buffer to allow for differences in knitting style and yarn composition and for your swatch.

The actual yarn used for the pattern sample (Width 2, Length B) was a total of 1820 yards (1664 meters) of Knitcraft and Knittery Fingering Weight Corriedale (100% Corriedale, non-superwash) in colorway Mother Knows Best.

Unfortunately, the dyer whose yarn I used is no longer selling yarn. For yarn substitutions, choose a light yarn that is plied, springy, and has good stitch definition.

A solid, semi-solid, or tonal colorway is recommended to allow the cable details to stand out well.

Gauge is not critical, but swatching is recommended if using a different weight yarn to be sure you’re happy with the fabric.
