This is a free, basic hat pattern, designed for resistance marches such as the March for Science, Climate March, Tax March and any future marches. Change the colors to match the theme!
This hat has not been test knit by anyone but me. Please let me know if you find errors or have suggestions.
This pattern grew out of a chart I made for a single resistor symbol to be added to the front of a hat. The recipient requested the symbol to be bold (hence the name) so the chart includes two rows of each contrast color stitch.
The chart with this pattern has been reworked into a band of three resistors encircling the hat which requires 96 stitches.
For a small/medium adult hat, use worsted weight with size 6 needles for a gauge of 5 stitches per inch.
For a larger adult hat, use aran weight yarn with size 6 or 7 needles for a gauge of 4.5 stitches per inch.
I am a fairly loose knitter and worsted weight yarns seem to vary widely, so please check gauge when selecting needle sizes.
I used approximately 1/2 skein or less of the Lion Brand Heartland on the small/ medium hat and maybe 50 yards of a contrast color.
I used a little over 1/2 skein of the Premier Yarns Sweet Roll for the large hat.

Errata: the small/ medium hat should have a cast on stitch number of 90.
