New Release promo! Boswarlos is 25% off at checkout. Sale ends this Sunday, August 23.
Boswarlos
Pronounced sounding more like “Boss Wallace”, this cardigan features an interplay of cables and lace that remind me a little of plaid while knit up using this awesome colorway by Wild Woollys. Be fierce and independent and knit it like a boss, like Wallace would have done.
One of my favorite colors, one of my favorite cardigans; I will wear this one forever most often. It’s an open front cardigan worked top down with a bit of short row shoulder shaping, and it has modified drop shoulders. The upper back is worked first, then the upper fronts are worked, then the upper front and back is joined at the underarm with some underarm stitches and the lower body is worked down to the hem. Sleeve stitches are picked up around the armholes and worked in the round to the cuffs. Stitches are picked up around the front opening and the front garter band is worked flat.
The charts are accompanied by written instructions.
Sizes
(1,2,3)(4,5,6)(7,8,9) with finished garment circumferences at bust when worn closed:
(103,109.5,116)(122.5,133.5,143)(153,162,173.5)cm /
(40.5,43,45.75)(48.25,52.5,56.25)(60.25,63.75,68.25)“
Boswarlos is intended to be worn with about 10 to 20cm / 4 to 8” of positive ease at bust, so I recommend that you choose a size which is 10 to 20cm / 4 to 8” larger than your bust circumference. A list of measurements and schematic is provided on page 3 of the pattern.
Yarn
Wild Woollys fingering weight (75% superwash merino wool & 25% nylon; 425 meters / 465 yards per 100 grams). Sample uses the color “Undersea Garden” and requires (3,4,4)(4,4,5)(5,5,5) skeins. Approximate meterage and yardage is given below if using a different fingering weight yarn.
(1275,1385,1475)(1555,1655,1745)(1840,1925,2015) meters
(1395,1515,1615)(1700,1810,1910)(2015,2105,2205) yards
Gauges
To find your needle size, you should swatch. You may need a smaller needle size for the garter.
Stockinette: 25 sts / 33 rows to 10cm / 4” using gauge-size needles
Basketweave: 25 sts / 33 rows to 10cm / 4” using gauge-size needles
Garter: 24 sts / 38 rows to 10cm / 4” using gauge-size needles
Needles & Notions
The gauge was achieved with the following needle size. To work the pattern as written, you must swatch and use a needle size that will result in the correct gauge after blocking.
3.25mm (US 3) circular needles of varying lengths, either 80cm (32”) or 100cm (40”) in length depending on the bust and hem circumference that you are making; at least 100cm (40”) in length for the neckband; preferred needles for knitting small circumferences (sleeves) in the round.
You will also need: a cable needle to work the cables; spare interchangeable cables, spare needles or scrap yarn for holding stitches; 14 stitch markers.
