Trepassey Shawl
Trepassey Shawl is inspired by the cardigan, Trepassey. I wanted to make a shawl that focuses purely on the fun of knitting the lace and textured bands without fiddling with the crazy construction that makes the cardigan. These textured bands are so much fun!Just a pure and fun knit for the pure joy of knitting.
The center textured lace is provisionally cast on and worked first. Then the first wing is worked sideways in bands of stockinette and textured lace, and with increases and decreases providing shaping. The provisional cast on is placed on needles and the second wing is worked in the same manner as the first wing.
Size
55cm / 21.75” deep at center back and 104cm / 41” wide
Yarn
Muskoka Yarn Goddess Fino 100 (100% Superwash Merino; 400 meters / 437 yards per 100 grams ). Sample uses the colorway “Dark Wash” and requires 2 skeins. If using a different, similar fingering weight yarn, you will need approximately 780 meters / 855 yards.
Gauge
To find your needle size, you need to swatch.
Stockinette (and Lace): 22 sts and 32 rows to 10cm / 4” using gauge-size needles
Needles & Notions
The gauge was achieved with the following needle size. You should swatch to find the needle size that gives you the pattern gauge.
3.75mm (US 5) straight or circular needles 80cm (32”) in length
You will also need: spare interchangeable cable or needle to work the provisional CO; a cable needle to work the cables.
