Doyles

Doyles is a saddle shoulder blouse with loose, seamless set-in sleeves and generous A-line body shaping. It is a top down construction. Stunning sleeve lace inserts are worked separately sideways and attached to the sleeves by grafting stitches. While the black lace makes a luring blouse, I dream of having four more for fun one day…in sea green, crimson, cobalt, and jaffa. What Holst Garn Coast color would you choose?

The lace charts also have row by row written instructions.

Intended to be worn with about 0 to 7.5cm / 0 to 3” of positive ease at bust and/or hem. A list of measurements and schematic is provided on page 3.

There is generous A-line shaping in the lower body giving finished sweater hem circumferences that are approximately 17cm / 6.5” larger than the bust circumferences. If you wish a straight lower body, simply omit the A-line increases.

Yarn

Holst Garn Coast (55% Merino Lambswool and 45% Cotton; 350 meters / 383 yards per 50 grams) in the color Black. The yarn is held double in this pattern. If using Holst Garn Coast, you will need 1 cone split into two portions, or approximately

You can use a single strand of a different, thicker yarn. If you do, you should choose something that is around 350 meters / 383 yards per 100 grams that gives you a good fabric at the same gauge used in this pattern. If using a single strand of a thicker yarn, you will need approximately

Gauge

To find your needle size, you need to swatch in stockinette. The lace panel gauges are listed for convenience.

Stockinette: 19 sts / 31 rnds to 10cm / 4” using gauge-size needles
Shoulder Lace Panel: 17 sts to 9.5cm / 3.75” & 25 rnds to 10cm / 4” using gauge-size needles
Sleeve Lace Panel: 33 sts to 19cm / 7.5” & 25 rnds to 10cm / 4” using gauge-size needles

Needles & Notions
The gauge was achieved with the following needle size. To work the pattern as written, you must swatch and use a needle size that will result in the correct gauge after blocking.

3.75mm (US 5) circular needles of varying lengths

You will also need: spare interchangeable cables, spare needles or scrap yarn for holding stitches; stitch markers; removable markers.
