The Brioche Waffle Beanie uses a half brioche stitch to give this unisex hat an interesting texture. The result is a lightweight, super squishy and stretchy beanie that can fit a wide range of head sizes. Knit from the bottom up (ribbing to crown), using a tubular cast-on, band of 1 x 1 ribbing and half brioche stitch, making this hat fully reversible.

The pattern is written for adult sizes Small (20 inches), Medium (22 inches) and Large (24 inches). The adult-Small can also fit a Child. The sample is shown in adult/medium on 22 inch head (me) and 21 inch head (daughter). Stitches used include -- knit, purl, brioche purl (brp), slip 1 yarn over (sl1yo) and brioche 4 stitch decrease (br4stdec). It is suitable for adventurous beginner / intermediate level knitters. The most challenging part is the crown shaping :-)

Sample shown in Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light in Spicewood. I love it in a fingering weight yarn with more body, but I’ve also knit it in a lighter weight fingering.
