This hat came from a request from my sister for a chunky colourful hat. She chose super bulky yarn (I used Fleece Artist’s Tosca) and the largest needle I had was 6.5mm (US 10.5). The patterns I saw were all for bigger needles, so this hat was born. I knit it in about 3 hours total, so it’s a super quick and satisfying knit. Please enjoy!

Yardage is approximate, my hat weighs 98g, and my leftover skein is 110g. Using another yarn with 100g should work but might be close, you could leave off a row or a whole repeat.

My head is 23 inches around and the hat fits perfectly. I didn’t expect or plan for any stretch with such a small needle compared to the yarn. You can modify by adding or removing 4 stitches to the cast on, and then taking that into account with the decreases.
