Named after Boreas, the Greek god of the northwind, the Boreal Forest is actually an ecosystem composed of mostly coniferous trees, lakes and waterways. It is the largest intact forest in the world encircling the entire Northern Hemisphere of the earth. The Canadian Boreal Forest, called “Tiaga”, stretches from the Yukon/Alaska border across the country to Newfoundland and Labrador. It covers a staggering 1.2 billion acres or about 57% of Canada’s entire land mass.

Made from 100% washable Merino Wool, the Malabrigo Ivy Rios yarn with its subtle variation in colour was chosen in an attempt to capture the sweeping depth and beauty of this iconic forest.
