Cascading Cables Headband
This Cascading Cables Headband is worked in simple stitches that resemble cables falling with the color change. It works up fairly quickly and you can customize with more than one color.
Yarn: Caron Simply Soft,(affiliate link) #4, worsted weight, 100% acrylic, 315 yards per skein.
Colors used: about 40 yards of Sage (CA) and about 40 yards of Pagoda (CB).
Hook: 4.5mm hook.
Notions:
- Needle for weaving in ends.
- 1” button for closure at the back.
Size
Adult Women S/M – 21” head in circumference; headband measures 20.5” in length.
Adult Women L – 22” head in circumference; headband measures about 21.5” in length.
Gauge
8 rows = 2”; 9 hdc = 2”
Pattern for gauge:
Ch14
Row 1: 1hdc in 2nd ch from hook, and in ea st across, turn.
Row 1: Ch1, 1sc in same st, 1sc in each st across, turn.
Row 2: Ch2, 1hdc in same st, 1hdc in next st, 1FPdc in hdc 2 rows below, 1hdc in next 2 sts, 1FPdc in hdc 2 rows below 2x, 1hdc in next 3 sts, turn.
Continue rows 1 and 2 until you have enough to accurately measure gauge.

Special Stitches
- scinc – single crochet increase (2sc in same st to increase stitch count).
- sc2tog – sc worked into 2 stitches to decrease stitch count.

Pattern Notes
- Chains at beginning of rows do NOT count as stitches.
- FPdc stitch will always be made into hdc 2 rows below your current row. You will skip the sc row. See tutorial pictures.
- Change color at end of the rows, where instructed, by using new color yarn before finishing the last stitch.
- To make headband longer or shorter, increase or decrease body of the band by the 2 pattern rows (Rows 10 and 11 in pattern instructions).
- Make sure that your band entire band measure about ½” smaller than your head circumference.
- The pattern includes 2 different sizes but also instructions on how to make it shorter or longer for a custom and unique fit.
