I love cowls, they are a no nonsense scarf, it stays where it is, keeping your neck warm without being too bulky.

With 100g of aran / chunky wool, 8mm needles, 40 sts and 100 rows, the project won’t take forever to complete.

The cowl is 17” / 43 cm wide and 17” / 43 cm diameter.

Why not keep knitting, using 200, or even 300g to make a lovely big scarf.

I have also knit this pattern with New Lanark chunky, but you need to break into a 2nd ball to make the cowl.

There are no complicated combinations of stitches.

Instructions include yo,k2tog / k2tog,yo / yo,k3tog,yo / yo,p2tog / p2tog,yo.

As knitted lace does, it has pattern on right and wrong side rows.

Working on large needles, and with the strong lines of the pattern it is easy to see how the pattern is working.

Instructions are written and charted.

The gauge given is on 6mm needles, then as I usually do, for lace go up 2 sizes
