Snuggly and cozy, all ready for you to wrap up in for lounging or for a dressy occasion. Choose colors of your liking to make this into the wrap of your dreams. The beads and self-fringe add a bit of pizzazz to the wrap.

Inspiration comes from many places. This one came from the background colors of the song screen one Sunday at church several years ago. The original version (blue) reflects these colors. The strong diagonals at the top and bottom of the screen led me to include diagonals in the main body of the wrap. The mosaic borders echo these diagonals. The rectangular shawl is knit horizontally from the bottom up, featuring several diagonal stitch patterns reminding me of cobblestones. Beads are added to the edges to emphasize the diagonal lines as they were on the screen. When the shawl is finished, stitches along the side edges are unraveled to make the self-fringe.

The wrap can be made in either of two lengths. The longer version measures 72” long by 20” deep not counting the fringe. The shorter version measures 60” by 20”.

Two to four colors may be used in the wrap. Instructions include how to use the various colors.

Yarn usage for longer version in four colors was approximately 200 yards for Color 1; 140 yds of Color 2; 125 yds of Color 3; and 640 yds of the Main Color.
The two-color longer version used 810 yds of the Main Color and 326 yds of the Contrasting Color.

The shorter version in three colors used 190 yds of Color 1, 90 yds of Color 2, and 620 yds of the Main Color.

Beads: Size 6/0 seed beads. Longer version all beads = 700; fewer beads = 320. Shorter version = 650. Beads are totally optional.

All patterns are charted with directions on using the charts and for the construction of the wrap. There are no line-by-line written directions. The pattern includes a tutorial for mosaic knitting and instructions for the self-fringe.

Additonal Note: There is a spin-off pattern from this one, the Brick Alley Cowl, which is a bandana type cowl.

Two skeins of the MC of Malabrigo Sock and 1 skein each of two contrasting colors will make this shawl and two of the Brick Alley Cowls.
