A pattern for horse chestnut or conkers, written in US terms. The finished conkers can be used as decorations in a bowl centre piece, as part of your own arts and crafts projects, or as a play item for children. It’s a quick and easy make, suitable for beginners. Seasoned crocheters will be able to whip up a few in half an hour.

The pattern is 2 pages long and includes colour photographs of the finished item.

Using 4mm hook and DK yarn, the finished conkers measure 3cmx3cm approx.
For this pattern, you will need:

DK weight yarn in light brown and dark brown

  • 4mm hook
  • Tapestry needle
  • Scissors
  • Toy stuffing (optional)

You will need to be familiar with the following US terms:

-SS/Sl St- Slip Stich

  • Rounds- working in rounds without turning
  • SC- Single Crochet
  • FO- Fasten off
  • Magic Ring
  • Increase by doing 2 single crochets in 1 stitch
  • Decrease/Sc2tog by joining 2 single crochets together into 1 stitch
  • St- Stitches
