The Coralin Cardi is a timeless yoke design cardigan that is enhanced with pretty smocking as well as simple slip and garter stitch elements for textural interest. It’s feminine without being too frilly.

Coralin is a quick knit and the smocking technique is simple enough for a novice knitter to tackle. The pattern includes a photo tutorial of the smocking technique. Made with machine washable and affordable acrylic/wool blend, DK weight yarn, this cardi is both easy care and easy on the yarn budget. Makes a quick-to-knit, cute and inexpensive last minute shower gift,

The sweater body is worked flat, then converted to circular to complete the sleeves. NO SEWING. Sample is knit in the 3 month size on US 4 needles. Simply selecting a smaller needle will make a size suitable for newborn - 3 mos.

Tools needed: US 4 needles for working flat and in the round. A pair of US 4 double points for the applied i-cord. 1 Stitch marker (optional). 1 yarn needle. 5 - 1/2” buttons.

Skill level: Intermediate or adventurous beginner. Pattern calls for knit, purl, slip, garter, increasing, decreasing and smocking (the pattern includes a photo tutorial of the smocking technique).

The Coralin Cardi coordinates with the Coralin Bonnet to create a beautiful sweater/hat set. The pattern for the coordinating bonnet is available as a separate purchase in my Ravelry store.
