This pattern is for a Crescent Moon shaped throw pillow. This classic shape can be worked into almost anyone’s décor.

The contoured shape is great for snuggling but also good neck support when traveling or sitting at a desk. The pillow shown is 17 rounds worked in 4 weight acrylic. The result is a generous sized throw pillow approximately 8in across the center, 16in tall. The
pattern will be for this size pillow with instructions on how to make larger moons.

Stitch markers are VERY important when following this pattern. You will need the locking type in at least 3 different colors or styles. You’ll be marking your beginning stitch with one color or style, the top and bottom of the moon with another color or style, and all the center increases will be marked with the third color or style. The amount of center increase stitch markers depends on how large you’ll be making your pillow.

If you don’t have stitch markers that lock, you can use scraps of yarn in 3 different colors. It’s more fiddly, but it can work.

Pattern is written in U. S. Terms. Stitches used are Chain, Single crochet, Double Crochet, Slip Stitch, and Linked Double Crochet.

I highly recommend using the Linked Double Crochet, but Double Crochet can be substituted.

The moon shown is worked in Acrylic yarn. I have made pillows using this pattern in bulky blanket yarns, and velvet yarns with great success. Just change your hook size to match the yarn you use. Bulky yarns can be tricky using the Linked Double Crochet stitch, but you can use regular Double Crochet and get the desired shape.

You’ll need pollyfill stuffing to fill the pillow.

2 PDF files are available to download after purchase. One is a one page pattern for crafters familiar with crochet abbreviations and techniques. The Second file is a step by step tutorial with pictures and more information.

I hope my pattern was easy to follow and that you are over the moon with your new pillow.
