Dear Dani socks
A favorite yarn colorway was once called Dani, and Oh how I loved it. So I designed a texture stitch pattern for it that I called Dear Dani. Been using it for different purposes since then. Here in socks it showcases the yarn in an interesting way I think, and I never get tired of testing it in fun yarn combos and different style sock yarns, like beautiful semisolids, tweeds and those special hand dyed variegated mini skeins or scraps that one have been holding on to. The german short row heel is described in detail in this pattern, row after row. It is quick to knit, and before you know it, you are on your way to the toe.
Sizes When deciding the size, go from the circumference of the leg and foot.
The length of the sock is adjustable to your needs, and the pattern guides you to the right length.
Small fits small circumference leg and foot. Unstretched fabric circumference 18 cm/7 inches. 56 stitches.
Medium fits ordinary sized circumference leg and foot. Unstretched fabric circumference 20 cm/8 inches. 64 stitches.
Large fits a wider circumference leg and foot. Unstretched fabric circumference 22 cm/9 inches. 72 stitches.
Gauge Texture patterns look best with a tight gauge, which also makes sturdy, long lasting socks. 8 sts and 11 rounds in these socks is about 2,5cm/1 inch in stockinette using a fingering weight sock yarn.
Materials
Yarn
MC A solid/semisolid/tweed/tonal/lightly variegated or lightly speckled fingering weight sock yarn is suitable. You will need around 60-70 grams. CC could be anything you like together with the MC, a strong colour, a blingy yarn and/or a stark contrast. You will need 15-25 grams.
Needles Circular 2.25-2.5 mm/US1-1,5 or the size needed to meet gauge. Needle conversion charts vary so use the needle size that gives you the correct gauge.
Notions tapestry needle for grafting the toe.
