The 1920s are often referred to as the roaring twenties because of the party atmosphere among the rich, driven by a booming and prosperous economy. We are all familiar with images of glamorous flappers dancing the night away to the newest sensations in Jazz at prohibition-era speakeasies.

In celebration of the new year, 2020, I have tried to bring back a bit of 1920s-style elegance with this cowl. Inspired by deco design motifs, the cowl can be knit with or without bobbles to set off the peaks of the design. If bobbles aren’t your thing, but you’re looking to jazz things up, you could easily add beads while you are knitting, or stitch on sequins once the design is complete. Whether you choose to do plain colorwork, bobble it up, or add some sparkle, this cowl will keep you in cozy style!

While this pattern may look like brioche, it is simple colorwork and can be done by beginning knitters as well as experienced colowork masters!

Any fingering weight yarn will work for this, and you need about 50g of each color, so this can be a great stash-busting project!
