I began this design envisioning a pair of socks that embodied the qualities of Artemis, the Greek goddess of the hunt. Artemis is an example of strength and femininity, qualities that I hoped to evoke in this pattern, with its delicate lace front and the more structured cables down the back.

The Wild Hunt socks are knit top-down and also feature my favorite heel, the eye of partridge. The pattern is written for Magic Loop, but can be adapted for DPNs or small circumference circular needles.

Instructions for Small (17-20cm, 7-8” foot circumference), Medium (20-23cm, 8-9” foot circumference), and Large (23-25cm, 9-9.5” foot circumference) sizes are included. Due to the cabling down the back, the fit may be snug. If you are between sizes, consider sizing up.

The pattern includes written instructions for all lace and cables.

Yarn: 1 skein of any sock / fingering weight yarn. The green sample was knit in Plucky Knitter Primo Fingering (75% superwash merino / 20% cashmere / 5% nylon) in the colorway Naugahyde. The coral pink sample was knit in Neighborhood Fiber Co Studio Sock (100% Superwash Merino / 100 grams / 400 yards) in the colorway Penrose.
