This simple color work hat pattern is inspired by Justice Bader Ginsburg’s famous dissent collar. It comes with instructions for both a regular cuff and a double thick cuff, which makes for a much stretchier hat. Designed for a charity knit project, all proceeds from selling this pattern will go to the Black Visions Collective and the Solutions Not Punishment Collaborative. However, this geometric pattern is obscure enough that it doesn’t have to be made as any sort of political statement.
After purchasing this pattern, feel free to use it for any charity knitting cause. You are also encouraged to sell your finished hat(s) as long as part of your profits go to a cause that supports equal rights.

Needles: Size US 4 (3.5 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge. 16” or 24” circular needles are suggested for the simplest knitting, but a longer cord for magic loop or double pointed needles would also work.
Yarn: 200 grams of fingering weight yarn (100 grams each of Main Color and Contrasting Color). Pictured hat is knit in Knit Picks Palette, colors Wallaby and Black.
Additional Materials: tapestry needle for weaving in ends.
Gauge: 6 stitches/inch (24 stitches over 4 inches) and 7 rounds/inch (28 rounds over 4 inches)
