This design wanted to be striped. Really, it did! But something happened… and the stripes distorted. Half of the stitches just shifted, leaving behind a new pattern that looks almost like stripes… but just a bit distorted.
This pattern is a great way to practice doing the many color changes required for some of the more intricate double knit patterns in my store, and the instructions include some tips for keeping your yarns from constantly twisting.

Hat requires approximately 230 yards, or 2 contrasting skeins of worsted weight yarn.
Small version of the cowl requires approximately 200 yards, or 2 contrasting skeins of worsted weight yarn, and can be sized to size desired.

Pattern download comes with a phototutorial that covers the basics of double knitting in the round including casting on, binding off, and how to double knit.
