Duality Shawl
A pattern so nice, I charted it twice. In one instance, it looks like an array of window or picture frames; in another, an elaborate basketweave — it all depends on which color you designate as the main color versus the contrasting color.
Sample shown features black as the dominant color and pink as the contrast. Duality is constructed bottom up, has a triangular shape by increasing along the left edge, and includes a 3-stitch i-cord border.
Materials
Yarn:
Light fingering or fingering weight yarn, contrasting colors
800–920 yds (730–840 m), approx. 200 g
Main sample shown:
• 2 skeins Finch by Quince & Co. in Crow, 442 yds (100 g)
• 1 skein Rocky Mountain Purls by The Farmer’s Daughter Fibers in Queen Anne’s Lace, 400 yds (100 g)
Suggested needles:
32” circular or longer
US 5 (3.75 mm), US 6 (4 mm)
Notions:
Stitch markers, tapestry needle
Recommended:
Blocking mats & pins
Gauge
24 sts x 60 rows = 4” / 10 cm in mosaic pattern, blocked
Gauge is not critical, but it will affect yardage, drape of garment, and final dimensions.
