She let out a big sigh, life seemed to be so full of changes, the family was getting both bigger and smaller at the same time. Pouring a fresh cup of tea into her cup, she marveled at how it was the small things that seemed to be constant and dependable – and she was ever thankful for those things.

Duchess Rose is a cuff down sock with three little rosettes that adorn the side, just below the cuff. The pattern is written to use contrast colors for the rosettes and the leaves to make the design stand out more, however, in a solid color yarn the design will still be represented if you choose not to use contrast colors. The design was inspired by a teacup decorated with many roses, and I focused on the three little roses along the side.

Pattern uses aprox. 45-75 grams (200 – 330 yds or 180 - 300 meters) of fingering weight yarn, plus 15 grams (65 yds or 60 meters) of CC1 and 10 grams (45 yds or 40 meters) of CC2 fingering weight yarn. Kits will be available from Lay Family Yarn on Friday, February 1, 2019.

Pattern is written for XS, S, M, L and XL to fit a foot circumference of approximately 7.5”, 8”, 8.5”, 9” and 9.25” (19, 20.5, 21.5, 22.5, 23.5 cm). This corresponds to 56, 60, 64, 68, and 72 stitches.

This pattern was originally written using yarn overs and simple decreases to create the leaves on the rosettes. During the testing process it was determined that this was difficult to tension for those who knit Continental style. As a result, the pattern was re-written (and tested) in a style that accommodates both English and Continental style knitters. Both versions are included in the file download. Version 1 will work best for those who knit continental style. Versions 1 and 2 will work for English style knitting.

This pattern has been tech edited and test knit.
