Sources say that we can lose up to 90% of our body heat through our uncovered heads. During a long Canadian (/American/European/anywhere cold-ian) winter, it’s important to keep covered and avoid all potential threats of hypothermia while looking absolutely FABulous, dahling.

The vibrant colours, amazing spiral pattern, and cozy, springy, 100% washable merino wool make this the perfect winter accessory. The weather outside is dark and gloomy and this is so often reflected in how we dress. Let’s kick winter’s ass and show it what we’re made of! The colours emote happiness, hope for spring, and an edgy conviviality, while the ease of the pattern and practical nature of the garment serves its pragmatic uses for keeping us warm creating near instant knitting gratification.

The key to creating the swirl pattern is how the yarn is dyed, the tension used, and the number of stitches. This is why DylaniumKnits has taken the time, done the math, and created a great pattern to get you started. It’s possible that you won’t have quite the same tension as the designer, so if you start making the toque and the colours are not working out, go up or down a needle size until it creates an image you’re happy with. Also, keep in mind that the yarn for this toque is 100% hand-dyed, so each skein is a little bit different, meaning the colouring on each toque will be a little bit different. Some will have thinner stripes, some thicker pools of colour, and sometimes the direction of the spiral might change mid-way. This creates a completely unique yet super adorable piece to add to your winter wears!
