Wordle-themed Monogram Pillow Crochet Pattern

This pattern is a simple colourwork crochet project for Wordle fans. It works up quickly to make a roughly 21” pillow cover. Customisable charts for day mode and dark mode included, as well as all letters of the alphabet (although Q is not great due to the limitations of a 5x5 grid). Pattern is not recommended for the letter Q.

Sample shown is J on one side, and a word game on the other. It used worsted weight yarn in scrap quantities: 155g Lion Brand Pound of Love in Charcoal, 150g Red Heart Super Saver in Black, 70g each of Tent Sale in True Green and Craft Smart Value in Mustard. Quantities of yarn required will vary depending on which letters/colours are chosen. A 200g skein of each colour should do most “dark mode” patterns. For “day mode”, replace black and some of the grey with white. Depending on how many coloured squares you choose in “day mode” pattern, you may need more than 200g white yarn. Finished sample shown is roughly 21” square. This is a great scrap yarn project, especially if you are flexible with regard to colours.

Materials:

   4 mm hook
Worsted weight yarn in medium grey, gold, green, and either black (dark mode), or white (day mode). 200g of each should be plenty for most configurations.
A pillow form, 18-21” square, or polyester stuffing

Stitches:

ch chain
FHDC foundation half double crochet (optional)
HDC	half double crochet
TSC twisted single crochet (optional)
