This easy garter stitch shawl is a great first foray into knitting a crescent shaped shawl. Bulky yarn, large needles, and NO row counting per se. You just count garter ridges! Gauge is not critical. Because you’re working from the top down its easy to know when it’s “big enough.” You just need to know how to do these simple stitches, knit, purl and yarn over, even to create the knotted openwork. If you’re a little adventurous you can easily adapt it and add in your own variations. Be sure to post your results. I’d love to see them. I’m a newbie at pattern design and my design goal is easy AND quick knits that are both classy looking and simple. Having said that, if you find something confusing or, God forbid, wrong please contact me.
