Eloelai On-the-go Coffee Cup Sleeve
If you’re out and about, isn’t it nice to have a coffee or tea with you? Most cafes will offer you a paper cup with a thin cardboard sleeve. There are two problems with that: one is that the cardboard is never quite enough insulation for me, meaning I tend to struggle with the heat coming through the cup and the sleeve. The second is that the cardboard sleeve is often not recycled, even though it is recyclable. With these handy sleeves, you can pop one in your bag or pocket, and whip it out when you’re being served! (Or, even more eco-friendly - take your own cup too!)
Skill level: Easy
Size: One size fits all
Supplies: I used Stylecraft Special Aran in Pale Rose and Khaki, but any Aran weight will do
Hook: 4 mm
Gauge: tension is not critical for this pattern, but if you crochet loosely your sleeve might not be snug enough, so after round 1 make sure it’s a good fit for your cup, and decrease the amount of stitches if necessary. (Or crochet more tightly if you’d prefer to stick to the pattern instructions.)
Stitches used: foundation chain (fc)/chain (ch)/slip stitch (ss)/stitch (st)/double crochet (dc)/half treble crochet (htr)/back loop only (blo)
