This afghan was designed & knit for a dear friend of mine, and was a true pleasure to create! The pattern includes a very generously sized afghan (approximately 72” x 63”) and two matching pillows (16” square). Only one pillow is shown in the photos. The body is knit in entrelac with the use of 4 colors (each ‘row’ is a single color, to simplify the color changes), with a 3” double seed stitch border all around, and knit in rounded corners. The pillow uses half size squares to mirror the afghan, and includes a 1” border.

The pattern uses a bulky weight yarn and is knit on American #10.5 needles. I used KnitPics Swish Bulky, but any bulky yarn may be substituted. I used 10 skeins (137 yards) of brown, and 5 each of silver, green, and tan. You will need long circulars (48”) for the afghan, and straight needles for the pillows. A half yard of fabric is needed for the pillow backs, which are constructed as shams for easy care, and two 16” pillow forms. The finishing touches require minimal sewing.

Although this pattern looks complicated, it is not especially difficult to knit once you get the hang of it. This pattern is suitable for intermediate to advanced knitters, NOT for beginners.
