The Essence Shawl is a knitting pattern for a timeless shawl designed for standard gauge single-bed knitting machines.

Created specifically for 100% woolen-spun (carded) cashmere, the pattern offers an opportunity not only to knit an elegant everyday shawl, but also to gain a deeper understanding of this unique fiber throughout the project.

The shawl is worked in two symmetrical sections from the center toward each tip using fully fashioned double decreases. Continuous partial knitting (Hold Position) is used throughout the project to stabilize the straight edge and minimize curling.

The construction follows the same design principles as the Essence Kerchief while featuring a different finished size, a different decrease rhythm and revised mitered tip shaping.
