Your next act of handmade courage:

Fall I wanna do is knit some fun
I got a feeling—the cast-on has just begun.
Fall I wanna do is knit some fun
I wonʼt tell you that youʼll knit only one.
Fall I wanna do is knit some fun
Until the crown cinches down and a pompom adds to the charm.

Fall I Wanna Do knits more fun into your cool-weather wardrobe. This cozy beanie features alternating leaves that dance around the body of the hat. Add a pompom for a playful flourish or keep it classic without. Wear it with the Fall Night Long cowl and Fall Me Maybe mitts to top off a coordinated fall look that rustles up a little fun wherever you go.
My apologies to Sheryl Crowʼs “All I Wanna Do.” Youʼre welcome for the earworm!

Quick Highlights:

Leaf Motif: Dimensional leaves are created with elongated knit stitches.
Rolled Edge: A rolled brim paired with 1x1 ribbing keeps the look casual and comfortable.
Optional Pompom: Add a playful flourish or leave it off for a more classic look.
Techniques: Knitting in the round, 1x1 ribbing, decreases, and elongated stitches worked into rounds below.
Pattern: Written, round-by-round instructions with checkboxes to track progress, plus a chart for the main hat motif. Step-by-step reference photos and video tutorials for special techniques.
Yarn Weight: Worsted (CYC #4). Just one skein!
Sizes: Four adult sizes, with guidance for choosing a comfortable fit.
Construction: Knit from the bottom up in the round, with a rolled edge, ribbing, textured body, and shaped crown.

Measurements:
To Fit Head Circumference:
20 (22, 24, 26) in. {51 (56, 61, 66) cm}
Finished Circumference:
15 (16.5, 18, 19.5) in. {38 (42, 45.5, 49.5) cm}
Finished Height:
7.25 (8.25, 9.25, 10) in. {18.5 (21, 23.5, 25.5) cm}

Choosing Your Size: Suggested negative ease is 25%. The pattern includes guidance for selecting the best size based on your head circumference.
The sample is Size 2, modeled on a 21.5 in. (54.5 cm) head with approximately 23% negative ease.

Gauge:
18 sts and 26 rnds = 4 in. (10.16 cm) in stockinette stitch worked in the round, blocked.
2 repeats wide and 1 leaf tall (12 sts by 9 rnds) = 3 in. wide by 1.25 in. tall (7.6 cm wide by 3 cm tall), blocked, in leaf pattern.
The leaf motif expands the fabric compared to stockinette. Choose the needle size that produces the specified blocked stockinette gauge.

Fall for Me Collection
Autumn brings cooler days, colorful leaves, and for me, the perfect excuse to get punny with pattern names. The Fall for Me collection celebrates everything we love about the season: cozy textures, leafy motifs, and a sense of fun that carries through every stitch.
Fall Night Long kicks things off with a cowl full of rhythmic stitches and superstar vibes. Fall Me Maybe mitts let your fingers flirt with your keyboard or needles. And Fall I Wanna Do caps off the collection with a beanie full of dancing leaves. Knit one, knit two, or knit the whole harmonious trio and let your stitches sing their way through the season.
