This is an intermediate/advanced level crochet pattern. If you have not made one of my patterns before, I recommend starting with my FREE Kirin (v1) pattern before purchasing.

This pattern started out as a commission from my friend Evera! She had asked me if I could make a rainbow unicorn, and I’d really been wanting to design a semi-realistic horse so I jumped at the opportunity. A horse was one of the first amigurumi patterns I remember specifically looking for, and at the time I was a little disappointed by what was out there. There were lots of stuffie-style horses - adorable, of course! But not the semi-realistic type I was looking for. And then I found some extremely beautiful patterns by European designers, but they were made with crochet thread, and my attention span just can’t. The few others that I found didn’t really check my boxes for realistic proportions, so I decided I would design my own horse “base pattern” that could then be modified with wings, horns, or other add-ons to make all sorts of fantasy equines.
