Note that this is a sister pattern to the Ferris Wheel Tee. Purchasers of either pattern will receive both.

This lightweight knitted t-shirt lets you wear your knits year ‘round, and lets you have some fun with color, too: a mini-skein or just some leftover yarn can be used for the accents at the neckline and sleeve cuffs. For the fade effect, the closer in color your two yarns are, the more gentle the fade, and the greater the contrast, the greater the fade’s visual impact - it works well either way. You can see examples on the projects page.

The tee is worked top down, to allow you to try on as you go, and requires no seaming. The pattern includes ten sizes (finished bust 32 - 68”/ 80 - 170 cm), and there are specific modification options throughout the pattern to make sure it will fit the way you like, including to modify the ease through the arms, to shape the waist, and to shape the hips.

Note: You may see some bagginess through the arms of larger sizes of the test knits. The pattern has been updated to address this, and later testers for those sizes were pleased with the fit through the arms. The pattern also includes ways to adjust the amount of ease through the arms for any size. Yarn: fingering/ sock yarn, 75 - 150 g each for the two main colors and 7 - 15 g accent color - see below for specifics by size.

Techniques/ stitches used: knit, purl, k2tog, yarn over, short rows (explained in the pattern!), make one stitches (also explained in the pattern!)

The sweater is intended to be worn with 4 - 8”/ 10 - 20 cm positive ease - that is, larger than your actual measurement. There are multiple places to customize the fit of the sweater so if your bust size doesn’t exactly predict your other measurements (and whose does?!), you can still achieve a sweater with great fit.

Gauge: 22 stitches and 30 rows to 4”/ 10 cm in stockinette stitch before blocking

Estimated yardage/ meterage required:

• For each main color: Approximately 75 (85, 90, 100)(110, 115, 125)(135, 145, 155) grams/ 325 (360, 380, 425)(465, 500, 550)(575, 625, 675) yards/ 300 (325, 350, 400)(425, 450, 500)(525, 575, 600) meters.
• Contrast color: Approximately 7 - 15 grams/ 30 - 65 yards/ 25 - 60 meters.

Needle size: US #7 / 4.5 mm and #6 /4.0 mm, or size needed to achieve gauge plus one size smaller.
Type of needles: 16”/ 40 cm circular needles in both sizes for cast-on at neck and beginning of yoke; 24”/ 60 cm to 40”/ 100 cm circular in larger size for body of sweater; DPNs in both sizes for sleeves (or longer circular needles, if you prefer to use the Magic Loop method for working in the round).
